Nadir release show tops local happenings

A pair of notable local music events take place this weekend...

* Though his third album's been out since mid-August, but Detroit musical alchemist Nadir will celebrate the release of "The Book of Jonah" on Friday, Oct. 5, at PJ's Lager House, 1254 Michigan Ave., Detroit. The R&B/funk/rock artist, an 11-time Detroit Music Award winner, will perform with his seven-piece band following the rap group Final Cue and Detroit Techno Militia's DJ Psycho, with Emily Rogers of Detroit Music TV Live hosting. * The team of longtime Detroit DJ Bob Bauer and former Detroit record promotions man Jack Ashton, who now runs Hard Core Music Consulting in Los Angeles, are launch a new local band concert series starting Friday, Oct. 5, with Soleil Moon and Red Stone Souls at Millennium in the Cavern Club, 210 South First St., Ann Arbor. Doors open at 8 p.m. Tripp 'n' Dixie and 34 Bliss will play the same venue on Oct. 19, while Soleil Moon and Red Stone Souls will team again at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 25 at Callahan's Music Hall, 2105 South Blvd., Auburn Hills.
