New York rapper A$AP Rock promises that his debut album -- "LongLiveA$AP," due Oct. 31 -- will be "just, like incredible. It's gonna go down as a classic."

And there's certainly reason to believe him.

Though just 23, A$AP (real me Rakim Mayers) has made his mark as the leader of the A$AP Mob and on his own with 2011's lauded mixtape "LiveLoveA$AP," as well as performances at the Pitchfork Music FEstival, on "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" and with Rihanna at this year's MTV Music Awards. He's also been a guest on songs by Usher, Chris Brown, Swizz Beatz, Juicy J and others was a BBC Sound of 2012 nominee in the U.K.

His current single, "Goldie," is on its way up the charts, but A$AP says he doesn't feel like he's arrived just yet.

"I've got a lot of work to do," he says. "I'm just thankful, for the most part, and I hope that from here on out I can move forward and keep killing the game. I want to just be as realistic as possible and try to take it to the next level with our current situation.

"I think I'm doing organic, original stuff, and when it's organic, it comes off better. That's why I think I'm connecting like I am right now."

A$AP Rocky, A$AP Mob, School Q, Danny Brown and others perform Wednesday, Oct. 3, at the Fillmore Detroit, 2115 Woodward Ave., Detroit. Doors open at 8 p.m. Tickets are $25. Call 313-961-5450 or visit www.livenation.com.
