Imagine Dragons is certainly feeling some momentum these days.
Since signing a major label deal last year, the Las Vegas rock quartet has been named an MTV PUSH Artist of the Week, was nominated for an MTV Video Music AWard for the single "It's Time" and was named one of 2012's Brightest New Stars by Billboard magazine. The group has another song, "Lost Cause," on the soundtrack for Tim Burton's upcoming animated film "Frankenweenie."
"Things have worked out pretty amazingly," notes guitarist Wayne Sermon. "I don't know what all went into that; I think it's the combination of a label (Interscope) that really believes in us and the culmination of three years of us sleeping on floors and eating beans and burritos and Top Ramen. The timing of things has really worked in our favor.
"At the end of the day we're just really grateful for that. We had three years of us just churning away and doing things, and that really makes you appreciate when things do finally take off. We don't take on thing for granted or one fan for granted. It's always an amazing thing to have people show up and want to hear your music. It's genuinely humbling every time."
Even "Glee" has taken notice of Imagine Dragons, with the cast covering "It's Time" on this year's season premiere.
"We heard about that probably a couple weeks go and thought it was cool," Sermon, 28, says. "I don't think any of us have really watched the show; we're all sort of nerds and none of us own televisions. But any chance that our music can get out to a demographic that normally wouldn't hear it, we see that as an opportunity."
