The British pop group One Direction -- whose first album, "Up All Night," debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart this week -- is coming to Detroit in June.
The quintet, comprised of onetime contestants on the British edition of TV's "The X Factor," will perform on June 1 at the Fox Theatre. Tickets -- priced $29.50-$59.60 -- go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 24, at the box office and Ticketmaster locations and via www.livenation.com.
"Up All Night" sold more than 176,000 copies during its first week on sale, making it the first British group to hit No. 1 with its debut release. The album has topped the charts in 12 other countries, while the groups first single, "What Makes You Beautiful," won a Brit Award in March.
As it revs up for the tour, One Direction will perform at the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards on March 31, on an episode of Nickelodeon's "iCarly" on April 7 and, that same night, as the musical guest on "Saturday Night Live."
