Detroit rockers Sponge have been tapped to open for Guns N' Roses at the group's special theater show on Feb. 21 at the Fillmore Detroit.
Sponge, which still feature founding frontman Vinnie Dombroski, recently performed it 1994 debut album, "Rotting Pinata," in its entirety at the Emerald Theatre in Mount Clemens and is continuing to play the album on a nationwide Rotting Pinata Rewind Tour. Its most recent album, "Destroy the Boy," came out in 2010, and it's hoping to release another, "Soak It Up," later this year.
Tickets, priced $49.50-$125, are still available for the show at the box office, Ticketmaster outlets and www.livenation.com.
