A pair of hot concerts have been added to the metro area summer schedule.
British rockers Coldplay, promoting last year's Grammy Award-nominated "Mylo Xyloto," return for a show on Aug. 1 at the Palace of Auburn Hills. Tickets -- priced $99.50, $79.50 and $49.50 -- go on sale at 10 a.m. Feb. 4 at the box office, Ticketmaster outlets and online via www.palacenet.com and www.livenation.com.
This year's Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, meanwhile, will hit the DTE Energy Music Theatre on July 22. Headliner Slipknot will be playing its first North American shows since the death of bassist Paul Gray in May of 2010 and will be joined by Slayer, Anthrax, The Devil Wears Prada, As I Lay Dying and others. Motorhead is also rumored to be joining the tour, but that won't be announced until after the group finishes its run on Megadeth's Gigantour, which stops Feb. 9 at the Palace.
A Mayhem pre-sale will take place at April 6, with a public sale to be announced.
