Red Hot Chili Peppers announce June date in Detroit
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame-bound Red Hot Chili Peppers -- whose drummer, Chad Smith, is a Bloomfield Hills Lahser High School graduate -- will kick off June in Detroit.
The quartet, touring to promote its 2011 album "I'm With You," performs on June 1 at Joe Louis Arena. Tickets, priced $62.50 and $42.50, go on sale at 10 a.m. Jan. 27 at the box office, Ticketmaster outlets and at www.livenation.com.
"I'm With You" came out Aug. 29, debuting at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart and at No. 1 in 18 other countries. The Chili Peppers toured Europe during the fall and were slated to start Jan. 19 in North America, but the trek was postponed to allow Grand Rapids-born frontman Anthony Kiedis to undergo foot surgery. The group now hits the road in March and plans to tour the world into 2013.
The Chili Peppers will be inducted into the Rock Hall April 14 in Cleveland.
