That "Old Time Rock and Roll" sounded a little sweeter on Thursday night, Dec. 1, in New York City.
Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band were joined by Bruce Springsteen for their rendition of the 1978 hit at Madison Square Garden. Springsteen sang the tune's second verse and played a couple of guitar solos while bouncing around the stage with Seger.
Videos of the performance began popping up on YouTube shortly after it occurred.
It's not the first time the two have joined forces on stage, of course; Seger was the guest for an encore performance of "Thunder Road" when Springsteen opened his tour supporting "The River" on October 3, 1980 at U-M's Crisler Arena in Ann Arbor. The two rockers have been friends since meeting on September 2, 1978, backstage after a Seger show at the Pine Knob Music Theatre.
Seger and company next play Saturday, Dec. 3, in Philadelphia, and will be on the road into mid-January. Springsteen, meanwhile, will be releasing a new album and touring with his E Street Band during 2012; so far he's only announced spring and summer dates in Europe, though a North American spring tour -- including an April 12 date in Detroit -- is rumored.
Springsteen was also named the keynote speaker for this year's South By Southwest Music + Media Conference on May 15 in Austin, Texas.
