Rochester's School of Rock has a full weekend of music planned at Callahan's Music Hall, 2105 South Blvd., Auburn Hills. The students kick things off with an Indie Rock Show at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23. The 80s Show plays at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, followed by a Michael Jackson and Prince performance at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25, brings a Hall of Fame Showcase at 1:30 p.m. and a headbanging revue of Iron Maiden and Judas Priest material at 5:30 p.m. Admission is free. A dozen Detroit performers, including rappers BossE and Lil' T, will compete in the 8th Annual Showdown in Motown, a talent competition taking place at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, at the Majestic Theatre and benefiting YOuthBuild Detroit, a program operated by the non-profit Young Detroit Builders. Judges include Detroit City Council President Charles Pugh, poet and author Jessica Care Moore, and singer John Brown. The Majestic is located at 4140 Woodward Ave., Detroit. Tickets are $10. Crash Davis, the Americana-styled collaboration between the Strangers' Danny Runey and Chris Bennett, plays Friday, Sept. 23, at the Pike Room in the Crofoot, 1 S. Saginaw St., Pontiac. Joshua Davis, the lead singer of the Lansing-based Americana troupe Steppin' In It, previews material from his upcoming solo album, "Magnolia Belles," at 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25, at the Trinity House Theatre, 38840 W.
