The Red Hot Chili Peppers — whose drummer, Chad Smith, hails from metro Detroit — are gearing up for the Aug. 30 release of “I’m With You,” their 10th studio album. Its already streaming at the band’s official web site and on iTunes, and fans will get a chance to hear the band play it live, in its entirety, during a special satellite concert broadcast on release day from Cologne, Germany.

The show is being beamed to theaters in 33 countries — including more than 450 in the U.S. — at 8 p.m. in the appropriate time zone on Aug. 30. An encore performance is scheduled for Sept. 1. In addition to “I’m With You,” quartet will play a selection of its greatest hits.
