— The perennially popular Howling Diablos celebrate the release of their new album, “Ultra Sonic Gas Can” — which features guest appearances by Uncle Kracker, the Detroit Wheels, Hush and Robert Bateman — on Saturday, July 23 at the Park Bar, 2040 Park Ave., Detroit. — After wowing the audience at last weekend’s Don Was Detroit All-Star Revue during the Concert of Colors, guitarist Jim McCarty hits the stage again with Cactus, the group he, drummer Carmine Appice and bassist Tim Bogert formed in 1970 and re-launched in 2006. The quintet, which released the “Cactus V” album that same year, performs Friday, July 22, at the Magic Bag, 22920 Woodward Ave., Ferndale. The Muggs will also perform. — The Majestic Theatre complex in Detroit’s Midtown area will host a pair of Motor City-leaning shows this weekend. The Detroit-based Black Irish Booking agency showcases five of its artists — Easy Action, Against the Grain, Chapstik, UDI and Rawdogs — at Five For $5 in the Magic Stick Lounge on Friday, July 22. Doors open at 8 p.m. On Saturday (July 23), the Midsummer Meltdown will feature electronic music from the likes of Rob Lloyd, Donald Whan, Paranormal Trek and others in the Majestic Theatre.
