Kid Rock said he was planning "something special" for Detroit this summer. Now he's dropped a hint about what that might be.
Rock posted a "special announcement" on his web site Friday (May 27) that reads: "Looking forward to spending some time at Comerica Park this summer!!..and I'm not just talking about watchin' the Tigers play!! Stay Tuned for more info! T.G.I.F.F.!!!!"
Comerica Park suite holders, in fact, have been told that Rock will be playing at the stadium in early August. The Tigers will be on an extended road trip from Aug. 5-14, and Rock currently has a break in his summer tour schedule between Aug. 7-15.
A date for Rock's concert -- or concerts -- is expected to be announced as early as next week.
Rock performed two sold-out shows at Comerica during July of 2009. In January he celebrated his 30th birthday with a sold-out show at Detroit's Ford Field.
Rock wraps up his Canadian tour this weekend with shows in Toronto, London, Ontario, Montreal and Ottawa. He begins a summer run with Sheryl Crow on July 2 in Cincinnati; it's not known if Crow will be part of the Comerica Park show.
