* The popular 90s roots group Mudpuppy will play together for the first time in nearly a decade years this weekend to benefit percussionist Lorenzo "Spoons" Brown, who's fighting kidney failure. The group -- which featured WCSX-FM personality Mark Pasman, Jazzanova's Paul Randolph, keyboardist Sean McDonald and Betteye LaVette drummer Darryl Pierce -- plays music from its three albums and other favorites on Saturday, April 30, at Callahan's Music Hall, 2105 South Blvd., Auburn Hills. * Detroit blues-rock favorites the Muggs celebrate the release of their new album, "Born Ugly," with a show Friday, April 29, at the Magic Bag, 22920 Woodward Ave., Ferndale. the Hentchmen and Magic Jake & the Power Crystals are also on the bill. * WDET-FM "Modern Music" host Jon Moshier is taking his show on the road this weekend, hosting an evening that includes performances by Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. and Mirrortwin at the Crofoot, 1 S. * Songwriters Anonymous, a local organization that supports and promotes metro area singer-songwriters, will showcase an assortment of its members at 8 p.m. Friday, April 29, at the Trinity House Theatre, 38840 W. * The Detroit Fire Guild has a hot show -- literally -- on tap for Saturday, April 30 at the Crofoot Ballroom, 1 S. Saginaw St., Pontiac. "The Fires of Beltrane" combines live music -- from Bride Striped Bar, Otto Vector and DJ Intercom -- with fire-breathing and acrobatics by the Detroit Fly House.
