Homegrown Happenings: Holiday benefits, rock shows, polkas and more

* Metro area singer-songwriters Emily Rose, Patrick Davy, Jeremy Porter, Rachel Madison, Elise McCoy and Matt Dmits perform at Home For the Holidaze 8, a benefit for local homeless shelters, which takes place at 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17, at the Corktown Tavern, 1716 Michigan Ave., Detroit. * The Polish Muslims bring the polkas and perogi for their annual holiday show at 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17, at Paycheck’s Lounge, 2932 Caniff, Hamtramck. Opening the show will be Headlights Over Hills, winner of WRIF-FM’s Battle of the Bands and featuring Carl Kondrat, son of Muslims singer-guitarist Ken Kondtrat, on drums. Admission is $6. * Sponge, joined by the Fabulous Miss Wendy, will be the headliner at this year’s Jingle Ball, a fundraiser for the Capuchin Soup Kitchen that takes place Saturday, Dec. 18, at the Ritz, 24300 Hoover Road, Warren. 60 Second Crush, Elipzis, Fillmore Slim, Mound Road Engine and Anderson Valley will also perform. * A Dee-troit party, as they say, don’t stop, and few band do Detroit parties like the Howlin’ Diablos.
