Independent record stores plan special Black Friday

After staging successful Record Store Day events in April, the world’s independent music retailers expanding to Black Friday with an array of special, exclusive releases designed to get buyers into stores on Friday, Nov. 26.

Among the offerings are: the only physical release, on CD and vinyl, of Metallica’s “Live at Grimey’s” 2008 concert set; vinyl releases from U2, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, Soundgarden, the Black Keys, Drive-By Truckers; Gaslight Anthem, Cee-Lo Green, Frank Sinatra, the Black Crowes and others; a holiday EP from KT Tunstall; a holiday single from Jimi Hendrix; and exclusive high-quality deluxe vinyl releases of George Harrison’s “All Things Must Pass” and the Doors’ self-titled debut album.

While most metro Detroit area stores are simply carrying the releases, Street Corner Music, 26020 Greenfield Road, Oak Park, is turning Black Friday into Blue Friday with local blues and R&B troubadours, including Paul Miles. Call 248-967-0777 or visit www.streetcornermusic.com.
