Here are seven recommended pre-triptophan treks to make Wednesday (November 22nd) before the big feast:

* Windsor-based electronic star Richie Hawtin will headline a night of dance music at Clutch Cargo’s in Pontiac. The evening starts with a screening of the documentary “Pioneers of Electronic Music Vol. 1: Richie Hawtin” at 8 p.m., and the music starts at 10 p.m. with DJs Hawtin, Loco Dice from Germany and Detroit’s Clark Warner along with live band performances by John Tejada from Los Angeles and Grand Rapids’ Gaiser. Admis sion is $50 for the whole night, $30 without the movie. Clutch Cargo’s is at 65 E. Huron St., Pontiac. Call (248) 333-2362 or visit www.clutchcargos.com.

* It’ll be jam band central at the Majestic Theatre, when Detroit faves Natives of the New Dawn — making a homecoming return after a recent move to L.A. — and Bump play a pre-turkey workout. The Majestic is located at 4140 Woodward Ave., Detroit. Doors open at 8 p.m. Admis sion is $15. Call (313) 833-9700 or visit www.majesticdetroit.com.

* The Detroit Cobras will keep things rocking into the late night with a set full of its trademark obscure covers at the Magic Stick, 4120 Woodward Ave., Detroit. The show also includes Taylor Hollingsworth & the Spidereaters and the Moonlight, a band comprised of members of the Dirtys and the Buzzards. Doors open at 9 p.m. Tickets are $10. Call (313) 833-9700 or visit www.majesticdetroit.com.

* Heavy rockers Speedball reunite to headline a high-volume bill that includes Grayling and the Hotness at Small’s, 10339 Conant, Ham tramck. Doors open at 8 p.m. Cover is $6. Call (313) 873-1117 or visit www.smallsbardetroit.

* ’80s cover specialists the Mega 80’s host a Thanksgiving Eve Retro Party at the Magic Bag, 22920 Woodward Ave., Ferndale. Doors open at 8 p.m. Admission is $10. Call (248) 544-3030 or visit www. themagicbag.com.

* There are a couple of bigname shows rocking the town Wednesday, too. The New Cars and Persephone’s Bees deliver just what you need at 7:30 p.m. at the State Theatre, 2115 Woodward, Detroit. Tickets are $35-$59.50. Call (313) 961-5450 or visit www.livenation.com. (+44), featuring former members of blink-182, perform with the Matches at the 89X Fifteen Minutes of Fame concert at St. Andrew’s Hall, 431 E. Congress, Detroit. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are sold out. Proceeds from ticket sales are going to United Way of Detroit and the Michigan Humane Society. Call (313) 961-6358.
