* Popular Detroit rockers Bump, having come to the realization that their “musical ambitions had changed and the styles were not melding into a cohesive sound,” call it quits with a final show on Saturday, Oct. 2, at the Magic Stick, 4120 Woodward Ave., Detroit. My Dear Disco opens. Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 day of show. Call 313-833-9700 or visit www.majesticdetroit.com.

* Luder, the Octopus, Man Incorporated and Marco Polio & the New Vaccines will perform at a launch party on Friday, Oct. 1, for the U.S. publication of “MC5: Sonically Speaking” by British-born writer Brett Callwood, who now calls Detroit home. Callwood originally published the book in 2007 in the U.K. and revised it for its recent release by Wayne State University Press. The show takes place at the New Way Bar, 23130 Woodward Ave., Ferndale. Doors open at 8:30 p.m. Admission is $5. Call 248-541-9870 or visit www.myspace.com/newwaybar.

* The pop-rock buzz band Swing the Coast rolls into Pontiac’s Pike Room on Friday, Oct. 1, to preside over a bill that also includes Atavan, the Moment, All the Right Moves, American Diary and September Falls. The Pike Room is inside the Crofoot, 1 S. Saginaw St. Doors open at 5 p.m. Tickets are $12. Call 248-858-9333 or visit www.thecrofoot.com.

* Blues acts Harper, The Rusty Wright Band, the Greg Nagy Band and Shariee Williams are gathering on Sunday, Oct. 3, to play a benefit for the Robin Rogers Cancer Fund at Callahan’s Music Hall, 2105 South Blvd., Auburn Hills. Rogers, who’s married to Detroiter Tony Rogers, is a blues singer struggling with complications from liver disease, which forced her to cancel a tour supporting her latest album, “In the Fire.” Doors open at 5 p.m. Admission is $5. Call 248-858-9508 or visit www.atcallahans.com.
