INDEPENDENCE TOWNSHIP -- The "Ramblin' Man" did not ramble north on Thursday night (July 8).
Former Allman Brothers Band guitarist Dickey Betts was a no-show for his special guest appearance with Travis Tritt at the DTE Energy Music Theatre. Betts was unable to travel to Detroit from his home in Florida due to what a Palace Sports & Entertainment spokesman called "a personal issue," without elaboration. Betts -- whose Allman Brothers hits include "Ramblin' Man" and "Blue Sky" -- was scheduled to play five songs with Tritt and his band.
Fans were greeted at the gates by signs saying Betts would not perform "due to unforeseen circumstances," but the box office reported no complaints or requests for refunds.
Tritt played his own set as planned, while the Outlaws and Blackberry Smoke also performed.
