Pontiac Silverdome officials and promoters hope to reschedule India film composer A.R. Rahman's concert at the stadium after Saturday's (June 19) show was canceled due to a problems with the stage.
Local promoter Chris Kelly said he and partner Depak Kumar were "already in talks...about rescheduling. Within the next couple of weeks we'll know what's up." Information will be posted at www.silverdometickets.com.
A crowd of about 7,000 was expected to attend Saturday's show, which was taking place in a downsized configuration in the north corner of the Silverdome.
The concert was called off due to "an infrastructure collapse...which damaged the set," according to a tour spokeswoman. Kelly said the incident happened at about 4:30 on Saturday afternoon, saying that "structural complications caused the scaffolding to collapse." Rahman also postponed the Toronto stop of his Jai Ho Concert: The Journey Home World Tour scheduled concert for Sunday (June 20).
Fans arriving at the show Saturday found the Silverdome parking lot closed, with Silverdome security guards informing them about what happened.
Rahman`s tour travels to the west coast next and has weekend dates scheduled through July 25, including six in Europe.
