DETROIT -- Kid Rock offered up some details about his highly anticipated next album during his backstage visit Saturday to the first day of the Movement Electronic Music Festival.
Rock said the album, titled "Born Free," is due out Sept. 7, with the title track as the first single, which will come out in late June.
The album, which was produced by Grammy Award-winner Rick Rubin and recorded in Los Angeles and at Rock's home studio in Clarkston, features Bob Seger playing piano on the track "Collide," which also reunites Rock with Sheryl Crow, his duet partner on the Top 5 2001 hit "Picture." Other guests include rapper T.I. and country singer Martina McBride on "Care," and Zac Brown on "Flying High."
Rock expects to play the "Born Free" single at his three sold-out DTE Energy Music Theatre shows Aug. 13-14 and may preview other tracks from the album those nights.
Rock is currently putting finishing touches on the album before starting a run opening for Bon Jovi on June 22 in London. Rock also hosts the CMT Music Awards on June 9 in Nashville.
