Vocal strain has forced the postponement of Simon & Garfunkel's spring tour of North America -- pushing a planned May 11 date that Palace of Auburn Hills to July 17.
In a statement announcing the move on Wednesday (April 28), tour organizers said that the postponement is "due to a vocal strain recently sustained by Art Garfunkel. In an effort to provide the highest quality performance for their audience, Paul (Simon) and Art decided it would be best to move the scheduled concert dates.
"The dates have been rescheduled to allow for an adequate period of rest and rehabilitation, after which Art is expected to make a complete recovery."
The duo played Saturday (April 24) at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and made their decision after that performance. The rescheduled tour will now begin July 3 in Vancouver and play 16 dates in the U.S. and Canada.
Tickets for the May 11 Palace show will be honored on July 17. Those with conflicts for that date should contact the venue at 248-377-0100.
