Detroit's rich hip-hop scene will be in the house at this week's South By Southwest Music + Media Conference, thanks to a local rapper and promoter.

Invincible (real name Ilana Weaver), made her first trip to the annual music gathering in Austin, Texas, last year. "I had a great experience at it," she says. "I connected with a lot of artists internationally as well as promoters. I was immediately booked for a couple of festivals in Europe."

And, she decided, it was time to share the love with Detroit x SW, a SXSW official showcase taking place Thursday, March 18, at Austin's Victory Grill that will feature Detroit mainstays Slum Village, Black Milk, Finale, Monica Blaire, Vaughan T, Crown Royale, Miz Korono, Marv Won, Ro Spit, Mae Day, Now On, Househoes and 14 KT, as well as INvincible herself.

"I just wanted to see all these incredibly talented artists from the Detroit area properly represented and given all the opportunities I received last year," explains Invincible, who, through her Detroit-based company Emergence, is also presenting an all-female showcase, The Revival SXSW on Friday, March 19. "We have so many talented artists in the Detroit hip-hop community; it's about showcasing to the international music community that attends South By Southwest that Detroit is a force to be reckoned with."

Invicible foresees doing a Detroit hip-hop showcase at SXSW "annually or every couple of years to represent our scene down at teh festival." She'll also have both Detroit x SW and The Revival SXSW to be filmed for "mini documentaries" that will be released in the future.
