• Four years in the making, “It Came From Detroit,” James Petix’s passionate documentary about Detroit’s underground rock scene, is coming out for a sneak preview tonight at the Detroit Film Theater. The film features a variety of local bands and Detroit music scene personalities, although the White Stripes are not, by their choice, included in the fi lm yet, except by reference. The evening begins with a 6:30 performance by the Dirtbombs, the fi lm screens at 8, and it’s followed by sets by the Witches and Outrageous Cherry. The DFT is located in the Detroit Institute of Arts, 5200 Woodward Ave. Museum admission, which includes the performances, is $6 for adults, $3 for children. The screening is an additional $10. Call (313) 833-3237 or visit www.dia.org/dft.

• Detroit rock quintet the Silent Years celebrates this week’s release of its self-titled debut album — distributed nationally on the No Alternative label — on Sunday at Gracie’s Underground, 22757 Woodward Ave., Ferndale. The Satin Peaches and Paleo also will perform. Doors open at 9 p.m. Admission is $5. Call (248) 298-0330 or visit www.thesilentyears.com.

• This may be the scariest Halloween party in the metro area this week; the all-star rock trio Ozone will pay tribute to former Kiss guitarist Ace Frehley by playing his entire 1978 solo album, in addition to Frehley favorites from Kiss and Frehley’s Comet, at 10 p.m. Saturday at the Cadieux Cafe, 4300 Cadieux, Detroit. Wingman will open. Cover is $3. Call (313) 882-8560 or visit www.cadieuxcafe.com.
