INDEPENDENCE TOWNSHIP -- Jimmy Buffett paid tribute to the late Les Paul during Buffett's concert on Thursday night (Aug. 13) at the DTE Energy Music Theatre.

Video of Paul accompanied Buffett's performance of "A Pirate Looks at Forty," while Buffett said "Thank you, Les Paul!" before starting the song's final verse, which drew a cheer from the sold-out crowd of 15,000 Parrotheads.

Musician and inventor Paul, 94, died Thursday of complications from pneumonia in White Plains, N.Y.
