Four days. Eighty bands. Seven stages. And a barbecue and scavenger hunt to boot.
Sound awesome, doesn't it? How about F***ing Awesome.
The F***ing Awesome Fest, which got underway Thursday (Aug. 13), finishes its four-day run this weekend at Detroit's Majestic Complex. Stages in and around the Magic Stick, the Garden Bowl, the Majestic Cafe and the Alley Deck will host performances through Sunday (Aug. 16), with a couple of out of town visitors -- the British/German band Art Brut and the teenage Brooklyn duo Tiny Masters of Today -- but mostly some of the cream of the Detroit metro area crop including Deastro, Adult., [cq] Thunderbirds Are Now!, Javelins, The Octopus, Gorevette, Lee Marvin Computer Arm, Mick Bassett & the Marthas and others.
On Saturday (Aug. 15), the Fest will host a barbecue with many of the bands attending, as well as a Rock 'n' Roll Garage Sale. The Detroit Scavenger Hunt takes place at 1 p.m. on Sunday, with teams of four competing for prizes such as a Golden Ticket for every event at the Majestic Center for a year and a party for 20 at Rock 'n' Bowl.
The Fest starts at 8:45 tonight, 1 p.m. Saturday and 9 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $12 per day or $20 for a four-day pass. Call (313) 833-9700 or visit www.majesticdetroit.com.
