Barbra Streisand fans in metro Detroit are the unluckiest people on her upcoming concert tour. The superstar’s scheduled Oct. 18 concert at The Palace of Auburn Hills has been canceled because of poor ticket sales. Tour promoter Michael Cohl of Concert Productions International said in a statement Friday that the show was the only slowseller on the tour. Streisand instead will play a second concert in Toronto that night. Those who paid cash for their tickets can get refunds at the point of purchase. Ticketmaster will automatically refund credit card transactions. Local fans aren’t entirely out of luck. A block of tickets has been set aside for Streisand’s Oct. 6 concert in Columbus and her Oct. 17 show in Toronto. Concert Productions International is offering an $85 travel credit, through Ticketmaster, to those who purchase tickets to either of those shows from the Detroit area. “We apologize to the dedicated Barbra Streisand fans in Detroit who had purchased tickets,” Cohl said, “but it was impossible not to accommodate the extraordinary demand in Toronto. We are truly sorry for any inconvenience.” Ticketmaster can be reached at (248) 645-6666 or by visiting www.ticketmaster.com.
