Fresh off his Gershwin Prize for Popular Song -- which he received from the Library of Congress this week in Washington, D.C., Stevie Wonder is headed for the big screen.
And the Oakland Press wants you to be there.
Ten movie theaters nationwide, including the Emagine Canton Cinema locally, will premiere his first-ever DVD, "Live at Last," at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday (March 4). The 100-minute DVD was filmed during October at London's 02 arena as part of the Motown great's A Wonder Summer's Night Tour -- which visited the DTE Energy Music Theatre in June -- and features hits such as "Signed, Sealed, Delivered," "My Cherie Amour," "You Are the Sunshine of My Life," "Superstition," "Higher Ground" and "Living in the City."
The DVD will be released March 10.
Starting Friday (Feb. 27), readers can enter to win passes to the "Live at Last" screening or copies of the DVD by logging onto www.theoaklandpress.com and clicking on Contests. Five randomly chosen winners will receive a pair of passes to the screening and will be notified on Tuesday, March 3. Five additional winners will receive the DVD and will be contact by phone to pick up their prizes at the Oakland Press offices in Pontiac.
Emagine Canton is located at 39535 Ford Road. Tickets are available in advance at www.steviewonder.screenvision.com and at the box office the day of show. Call ((888) 319-3456.
