The Detroit Blues Society will present its annual awards at the group’s monthly “meeting,” which takes place at 9 p.m. Saturday (Jan. 10) at Memphis Smoke, 100 Main St., Royal Oak. Musician and WCSX “Motor City Blues Project” host Mark Pasman will receive the Blues Horizon Award, while singer Thornetta Davis and the late Sippie Wallace will be this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award winners. The Paul Keller Orchestra will celebrate 20 years of playing big band swing and jazz Friday (Jan. 9) with a special performance at the Firefly Club, 637 S. The local outlets of the Paul Green School of Rock Music kick off two weekends of showcases with a tribute to Pink Floyd’s “The Wall” at 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday (Jan. 10-11) at the Emerald Theatre, 31 N. Music, dancing, comedy, impersonations and more from some of the Detroit area’s leading drag queens will be part of Winter Wonderland, a revue that takes pace Friday (Jan. 9) at the Magic Stick, 4120 Woodward Ave., Detroit. Performers include Electra Lites, Deangela “Show” Shannon, S’Myra Skye Banks, Hershae Chocolate, CeCe Daniels and others. Bass guitar hero T-Money Green and his band, Roadwork, will headline House of Funk ’09 at 7 p.m. Sunday (Jan. 11) at Memphis Smoke, 100 Main St., Royal Oak. Lisa Lauren Smith will perform as Roadwork’s featured singer, and the bill also includes 1592, Brian B. and Anthony Floyd, the son of soul legend Eddie Floyd.
