Dave Feeny (Blanche, American Mars) presents his 7th annual Detroit Sounds and Spirits Old-Fashioned Holiday Spectacular on Friday (Dec. 19) at the Magic Stick, 4120 Woodward Ave., Detroit. The variety show-style revue will feature performances of holiday songs and original material by Detroit bands such as the Hard Lessons, the Nice Device, the Go, the Javelins, Mick Bassett & the Marthas, Blanche, American Mars and others. Proceeds will go to the Coalition on Temporary Shelter (COTS), adding to the more than $15,000 Sounds and Spirits has raised for the charity since 2002. Doors open at 8 p.m. Admission is $15. The Howling Diablos bring some holiday cheer on Friday (Dec. 19) to the Magic Bag, 22920 Woodward Ave., Ferndale. The group will be celebrating the release of its new EP, “Xmas in Jail,” and Detroit filmmaker Marco Aluia is filming the show for a DVD release in the spring — and is encouraging fans to bring their own video cameras and contribute footage to the film. Polka rockers the Polish Muslims make a sojourn into Oakland County this weekend to raise money for the cancer support group Gilda’s Club of Royal Oak. The show takes place Saturday (Dec. 20) at the Crofoot Ballroom, 1 S. Saginaw St., Pontiac, and also features performances by the Kielbasa Kings and Stewart Francke. Kowalski Sausage Company will also unveil the World’s Largest (give or take) Kielbasa Christmas Wreath. Doors open at 8 p.m. Tickets are $8 in advance, $10 day of show.
