Pop singer-songwriter Jesse McCartney will provide the halftime entertainment at this year's Thanksgiving Day football game between the Detroit Lions and Tennessee Titans at Ford Field.
A former member of the teen group Dream Street, McCartney, 21, starred in the WB TV series "Summerland" and dated Ashlee Simpson. He released his first solo album in 2004 and has scored three Top 40 hits, including "Beautiful Soul," "Right Where You Want Me" and "Leavin'," the latter from his latest album, "Departure," which came out in May.
The halftime show is in conjunction with the National Football League's longstanding partnership with the United Way. Throughout the holiday weekend, fans will be encouraged log onto nfl.com/play60 to make a donation to United Way to help reverse the growing epidemic of childhood obesity.
Previous Thanksgiving halftime performers have included the Goo Goo Dolls, John Mellencamp, John Fogerty, Mariah Carey, Bon Jovi, Mary J. Blige and Enrique Iglesias.
