The Ferndale-based electronic music promotion firm Paxahau continues to celebrate its 10th anniversary with a trio of special parties this weekend in Detroit. DJs Chuck Flask and Zip spin starting at 10 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 30) at Oslo, 1456 Woodward Ave. Admission is $10. Sunday (Aug. 31) finds Windsor electronic superstar Richie Hawtin in the house at Zs Villa, 42 Piquette St., along with Magda, Rich Korach and Dan Bain, plus horseshoes and volleyball, from 1-10 p.m. Admission is $20. The festivities then move to the Northern Lights Lounge, 660 W. Baltimore, starting at 10 p.m. with Cassy and John Johr. Admission is $10. Drummer/bandleader RJ Spangler and his trios are inviting fellow musicians to bring their instruments for a pair of jam sessions following Detroit International Jazz Festival festivities this weekend. The first runs from 10 p.m.-1 a.m. Friday (Aug. 29) at the Jazz Cafe @ Music Hall, 350 Madison Ave., Detroit. Call (313) 887-8500 or visit www. jazzcafe.com. While Arts, Beats & Eats rages outside, the Ann Arbor Dub Project will cool things off with a psychedelic-tinged dance party Friday (Aug. 29) at the Eagle Theater, 15 S. Saginaw St., Pontiac.
