Massachusetts rockers Staind are previewing a few tracks from their next album, “The Illusion of Progress,” during its current tour with 3 Doors Down — including the lead single, “Believe.”
And with any luck, it will drum up excitement for the disc, which is due out Aug. 19 and follows three previous Staind albums that debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard charts. But guitarist Mike Mushok said Staind, which recorded the album with producer Johnny K at frontman Aaron Lewis’ barn, doesn’t feel pressure to continue that streak.
“Y’know, I never expected to have one number one record, so having three, I feel fortunate,” the guitarist explained. “If we have four, fantastic. If we don’t, I know we worked as hard as we could to make the best record we’ve ever done.
“Once you turn it in it’s kind of out of your hands, and you just have to hope everybody’s long for the ride.”
Staind performs with 3 Doors Down, Finger Eleven and Sick Puppies perform at 6:39 p.m. Wednesday (July 30) at the DTE Energy Music Theatre, Sashabaw Road east of I-75, Independence Township. Tickets are $75 and $48.50 pavilion, $27.50 lawn. Call (248) 377-0100 or visit www.palacenet.com.
