A couple of the Detroit area's biggest summer festivals have announced their music lineups for this year's events.

The Comerica Cityfest (formerly Tastefest) will celebrate its 20th year in Detroit's New Center Area with headliners such as George Clinton & Parliament-Funkadelic, the teen pop duo Aly & Aj, [cq] '60s pop heroes The Zombies and New York hip-hop group De La Soul. Also performing on the Cityfest main stage will be New Orleans' Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Canada's Broken Social Scene and Arizona modern rockers Calexico.

Seun Kuti, son of the late Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti, will lead his father's band, Egypt 80.

Among the other acts headed to Cityfest are Digable Planets' King Britt, Grupo Fantasman from Austin, Texas, and modern tango hero Astor Piazzolla. A wealth of local artists will also perform during the festival, including perennial favorite Thornetta Davis, blues veteran Alberta Adams, Stewart Franke & the Regular Boys, SSM, trumpeter Rayse Biggs, the Volebeats, Doop & the Inside Outlaws, the Hentchmen and more.

More information on Cityfest 2008 is available at www.newcenter.com.

Detroit's Von Bondies, meanwhile, will join Canada's Sloan and the New York duo Matt and Kim as headliners of 2008 Rock City Fstival, which takes place June 12-14 in the Majestic Theater Center and at the Contemporary Art Institute of Detroit. Others on the locally dominated bill include Thunderbirds Are Now!, the Terrible Twos, Lee Marvin Computer Arm, the Silent Years, Deastro, Mason Proper and the Prime Ministers.

Advance full festival ($30) and single day tickets ($20) go on sale at noon Friday for one week only via the Detour magazine web site, www.detour-mag.com.
