Homegrown Happenings: Salt Miners, Liz Larin, Holiday Hootenanny

The Oak Park acoustic/Americana group the Salt Miners say farewell with a final show Friday (Dec. 7) at the Magic Stick, 4120 Woodward Ave., Detroit. The performance will feature two sets and the return of past band members. The Beautiful Losers will open the show. Doors open at 8 p.m. Admission is $8. Veteran Detroit singer-songwriter Liz Larin will perform a pair of special holiday concerts at 7 and 9 p.m. Friday (Dec. 7) as part of the Chapel Studios series at Kensington Community Church, 1825 E. DetroitCountryMusic.com will collect items for the Toys for Tots drive at its Fourth Annual Holiday Hootenanny at 8 p.m. Wednesday (Dec. 12)at Memphis Smoke, 100 S. Main St., Royal Oak. WXYZ-TV (Channel 7) anchor Stephen Clark, a country singer himself, will host the event, which will also include performances by Redhill, Jill Jack, Whitey Morgan, Terrie Lea, Karen Newman, the Orbitsuns and more.
