Jentry Speck, Joseph Marlin, Landon Baldwin
When Marlin and Speck met for the first time as the respective bassist and guitarist in a mutual friend's short-lived high school band they knew immediately that they both wanted something different out of music. Something new. Something better. Something with not only soul, but brains. And so in the summer of 2007 the two teamed up with Baldwin, a long time friend of Marlin's as well as a prodigious concert percussionist and budding drum virtuoso, to see what could be done with rock music as we know it. Since then they have packed the house in such venues as Fenton's Mo Doggies, Pontiac's Clutch Cargo's, and the Dirtfest rock festival in Birch Run. Since then their success has found them in the home studio of Gordon Strozier, guitarist for the platinum selling Flint band Ready for the World and plan to have a demo sent to EMI possibly by the time you read this.
What's up with the name:
The name might strike one as a non-sequitur, and indeed this is its entire purpose. Scorning the all-too-serious names of many current professional bands the group took their name from a roll of truly ancient duct tape which they used to jury rig recording equipment in their earlier days of poverty.
Got anything recorded?
We are currently in the process of recording a 3-track demo for EMI with Gordon Strozier of Ready for the World and have also recorded an 8-track demo in our home studio which is essentially a rough version of our forthcoming debut release with EMI.
Tell us your future?
With the current demo nearly complete we hope to have a recording deal with EMI signed by the middle of 2010, and from there... world domination. Most definitely.
Next Show: The band has been spending the majority of its time griding away at their EMI demo and focusing less on booking of late. If you own a venue, give our manager a ring at (810) 962-9336 for a press kit so you can give us a detailed look and get your venue into our upcoming summer tour. For those who are just dying for a show we'll be playing at our favorite hometown venue, the Good Beans Cafe, here in downtown Flint some time in the near future.
