The members:
Scott Torok of Wyandotte plays all guitars, bass and sings lead vocals for the group. Dave Pedenelli of Allen Park plays drums, percussion, piano and vocals. Both members are involved in writing and producing the group’s material as well.
The history:
Torok and Pedenelli have been friends for more than 15 years, and the duo’s current phase of the musical partnership is in its third year. In the process, the group has composed more than 50 original songs. Its debut CD, “The Legend …,” was recorded at Torok’s home and released late last year. According to the band: “The purpose for this CD and our music is to capture the soul and imagination of our listeners while we do what we love to do most.”
What's up with the name:
The “Nain Rouge” is a legendary character that dates back to the early 1700s and supposedly is a dark red, dwarflike creature that has been sighted in the Detroit area at times. “Every time the red dwarf had been seen, a great catastrophe followed,” the group says, citing that Detroit’s worst fire, riot, and storm all occurred after the Nain Rouge was spotted.
The style:
The two claim to have a wide range of influences. Classics like Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and Pink Floyd, and other modern groups like Tool and Red Hot Chili Peppers are all mentioned as sources from which Nain Rouge has derived its rock sound.

The duo plans to promote “The Legend …” by entering several online band and songwriting competitions. The two also are looking to audition guitar players in hopes of adding a third member. The songs already are written for a yet-to-be-titled second release, which will come out near the middle of this year.
