The members:
Solo guitarist Roy Scoutz is originally from San Francisco, CA and now resides and performs in the Detroit area.
The history:
With a two-decade plus career under his belt thus far, Scoutz spent his first 23 years as a professional musician in Los Angeles, working with famous acts such as Willie Nelson and Earth, Wind & Fire. During this time, he had the opportunity to tour the U.S., Asia and Europe, continuing to hone his craft on the road.
With the goal of understanding his relationship to music and the guitar, Scoutz eventually began playing solo guitar and now performs under his own name.
What's up with the name:
The title of Roy’s latest CD From a Blue Sky was his short way of saying how he felt about living under a blue sky — beauty, openness and joy.
“My favorite day is one with a total blue sky,” Scoutz said. “We don’t get that many here in Michigan, so it’s more special to me then when I lived in California.”
The style:
“My style is pop music that is instrumental,” said Scoutz, adding that inspirations include 1960s pop and classical and 70s R&B. “I like to fuse elements of pop, folk, classical and jazz.
“The guitar is the lead vocal, so to speak — I don’t really want to sound too much like anyone.”
